Egyptian edtech OTO Courses has raised a six-figure USD bridge round from AUC Angels & Changelabs. Founded in 2015, OTO Courses offers general and specialized English language courses to individuals and businesses and all the courses on its platform come with dedicated hours of one-to-one live tuition with an instructor.

In addition to tutoring, OTO has recently launched DardshEnglish, a platform for users to book practice sessions with tutors where they can put their skills to the test and apply the language.  

“Many students wish to speak to multiple people to increase their confidence and fluency in the English language around topics they wish to expand their lexical resources on,” says Ahmed Badr, co-founder and COO of OTO. “This ranges from general topics such as travel or food to more specific topics such as marketing or tourism, and that is what DardshEnglish helps with.”

With the help of this recent investment, OTO aims to develop the platform and services to reach a wider pool of users wishing to learn English while most, if not all, educational centres remain shut due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

OTO Courses has delivered more than 350,000 Online hours so far, with more than 150 instructors on board. More than 15,000 learners have been developed. With its proprietary advanced in-house built system, OTO is further trying to push costs down as well as make its products more affordable for students. OTO Courses also targets B2B clients, with success stories with more than 15 major regional companies.
