Falafel Inc Continues Rapid Expansion with New Washington, DC Opening on Southwest Waterfront: Eyes 1M Refugees

Social enterprise feeds 130,000 refugees, sets goal of reaching one million annually worldwide

Operating under the ethos, “Eat for Good,” Washington, DC-based food company Falafel Inc has opened it’s second DC location at the city’s flagship water-front development, “Wharf DC.” Known for its affordable $3 falafel sandwiches and $4 bowls, all-vegetarian menu and impact centered mission, Falafel Inc has quickly become one of DC’s hottest new restaurants.

Yelp and Buzzfeed named Falafel Inc’s first location in Georgetown as the top new DC restaurant to try in 2018 and both the Washington Post and Washingtonian Magazine have named Falafel Inc amongst the city’s best. Falafel Inc’s Wharf location debuted this past weekend with a waterfront block party, ribbon cutting and a Ten-Thousand Dollar donation to the World Food Program USA.

Over 2,000 people attended the opening, including Earth Day President Kathleen Rogers, Falafel Inc founder and serial social entrepreneur, Ahmad Ashkar, Marisa Michnick, Director of Leasing Operations at Madison Marquette, Torrey Shallcross Kraiss, Director of Development, World Food Program USA and Keith Sellars, President & CEO Washington DC Economic Partnership who said, “Falafel Inc has become an integral contributor to the District’s residents by providing a platform that put’s a spotlight on social responsibility while showcasing the diversity of our city.”

Continued expansion is on the horizon for this innovative brand with upcoming openings later this year planned for Tysons Corner, Boston and Mexico City. Their goal of reaching one million refugees annually worldwide is getting closer by the Falafel.
